A Lasting Legacy – and a Bold New Future for Beecroft House

As one chapter closes at Beecroft House, another begins—one that will transform the site and extend its legacy of care far beyond its doors.

Thompson Health Care has closed Beecroft House and will now begin an exciting journey to build a beautiful new residential aged care home on the site. Over the next couple of years, the new home will take shape—purposefully designed to offer older people a luxury, contemporary and welcoming environment where comfort, dignity, wellbeing and connection are at the heart of everyday life.

But the impact of Beecroft House will not end with its closure. THC has ensured that valuable equipment and items will continue to serve people who need them most. Kitchen equipment has been donated to One Meal who is addressing food insecurity in Sydney; beds, medicine trolleys, medical equipment and many other essential items have been donated to Medi-Share who distribute donations to hospitals in Africa; and bed linen and quilts have been given to Ashfield Women’s Shelter. Together, these donations turn a moment of transition into an opportunity to support, comfort and care for communities near and far.

Helping One Meal Nourish Communities

One Meal is a Sydney-based, volunteer-powered not-for-profit organisation that provides nutritious food and practical support to people experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, domestic violence, isolation and other challenging circumstances. Through free community meals, cooked-meal and hamper deliveries, breakfast packs and essential items, its volunteers offer help without judgement—and with dignity. THC’s donated kitchen equipment will help One Meal prepare and provide more meals, creating moments of nourishment, connection and hope for people doing it tough.

Giving Medical Equipment a Second Life Through MediShare

Medi-Share is a medical surplus recovery organisation that redirects suitable medical equipment and consumables to disadvantaged communities in countries like Africa. THC’s beds, mattresses, overbed tables, medicine trolleys, wheelchairs and many other medical items can now support safer care, improve access to essential health services and avoid unnecessary landfill—extending their value well beyond Beecroft House.

Providing Warmth and Comfort to Ashfield Women’s Shelter.

Bed linen and quilts have also been donated to Ashfield Women’s Shelter. Simple, practical items can carry enormous meaning: warmth through the night, comfort in unfamiliar surroundings and a reminder that someone cares. These donations will help women seeking safety and support feel more secure during a difficult time.

Beecroft House may have closed its doors, but its spirit of care continues. Through these donations, equipment and everyday essentials will keep improving lives, while THC looks ahead to creating an exceptional new residential aged care home for future generations. We look forward to sharing each milestone as this inspiring new chapter unfolds.
